Today was a day later than I planned, but I did complete 13.1 this afternoon.
I showed weakness on Friday evening when I had chili for dinner with friends so I didn't join the group that tackled the distance on Saturday morning. (SORRY, FOLKS!)
Nonetheless, I got out the door and when I started I already knew I was glad that I did it! My route from State and Monroe proceeded to the lake (going too fast, of course!). I headed south to 31st where I met fellow Nike Southside Team member Jackie K. where she ran me down to 63rd and back to 31st for the completion of 13.1! THANK YOU, JACKIE!
I felt good--I almost wonder how I would have felt if I kept an average of about 9:15/mile vs the roughly 9:45/mile. All I know was that I was VERY comfortable overall and, dare I say, should I have RACED?!?
I avoid saying that I'm doing a race and, instead, say I'm doing a 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon. If I say "race," then I get REALLY psyched out. I already told you all about that in my previous post.
NONETHELESS, it was great completing this distance where I was only solo for about 4 miles and all throughout our cheering team was the snow, slush, and the icy lake. It takes a good amount of motivation to go for such a long run and I was VERY lucky to have Jackie K. join me.
SOUTHSIDE!
