This weekend’s festivities in Boston with the Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials on Sunday and the Marathon for all the other elites and fundraisers yesterday were awesome!
I was fortunate enough to have the small screen popped up in the corner of my desktop as I worked. I logged in as Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya (and NIKE ELITE ATHLETE!) took off around Heartbreak Hill. And, there was tons of hype around Dire Tune (Ethiopia) and Alevtina Biktimirova (Russia) battling it out for who would get that extra $75k and it came down to the last 1-200 yards!!!! What an amazing finish!!!!
That “amazingness” is shared by all of our local RUN CHI members who ran. Bravo to you all! In particular, I want to give a shout out to Tiffany Carson for setting a PR of 3:32! She qualified in Ohio with a 3:35 about 3 weeks after running Chicago. Tiffany had an injury and was even thinking about just going to watch. We are so proud and glad that she stayed true to her goal and, in the end, PR’d!
All this made for a great day yesterday. I ran into Matt P. at the gym last night and we were both hyped and extra motivated to workout having watched such awesome races!
Bravo to you all!
