I slept in late on Sunday. I had a gig to play that afternoon. I missed my long run on Saturday because of a rehearsal. I got home from my gig and it was still light out and the weather was perfect!
Just do it...
I had to keep telling myself to just go out and do it. Of course, I prefer running with a buddy or group but I was not afforded with that luxury on Saturday.
So I took to mapmyrun.com. I plotted out my course (after messing it up and losing the route several times). I uploaded it to my gps system, went outside to stretch while getting my signal, and off I went for my 7 mile run.
I kept telling myself throughout what became my mantra, "just do it!" I went north on the path just past the North Avenue bridge and then headed home. I felt great!
I coasted along home and ended with an average pace of 8:38.
I just did it. And, I did it solo!
Yesterday, I recovered with some overall strengthening including abs class, which kicked my butt! It was an overall good sore today! I just topped it off with pacing for the Soldier Field training---doing about 5 miles at an average pace of 9:51. I am hoping to save my juice for tomorrow's speed workout. I am about to email the coach to ask him if my lingering glute soreness should be a red flag to layoff from speed and hill work. We shall see.
Thursday will bring us to another awesome Niketown run with free food, raffles, and fun. I can never wait to get there each time!!
