I blog to you from the train to O'Hare for a work trip to New Orleans. It is a great opportunity to catch up on emails that have piled up and, most importantly, keep you updated.
So, yesterday I was lookng for an out...a reason not to run my 8 miles. Shortly after I hit send, I texted and called fellow Nike runner Matt P--a fast runner by the way--and he said he would join me! I told him we would not be doing much faster than 9 min per mile. He was cool with it. We ended up having a great run at about 8:50 per mile.
I did not want to go run. I had been eating horribly the whole week, including a good amount of Reese's ice cream, my "vegetables" which was Fritos, and fries here and there with a burger. Obviously, that rut was screaming at me to get with it and SNAP OUT OF IT!
So, I did.
Now, I don't feel guilty because I probably would have beaten myself up all week and then been paranoid that I wouldn't accomplish my goal of a 90 minute Soldier Field 10 mile run on Saturday. Now, only day of conditions should get in the way of that goal.
Will YOU be ready to accompany me next time, even if it is almost a full minute slower or faster than your usual pace?
